I have been inspired by the Global Design Project again this week and have been playing with flowers as the #GDP303 theme is ‘Flower Power’. You can find all the inspiration from the amazing contributors here.
I tend to avoid buying new flower stamps and dies as I have a huge collection, although sometimes I crack (prized peony stamps anyone?) Another set which I loved the moment I saw them were the Poppy Moments Dies. These are gorgeous dies which create some lovely flowers. I have been challenging myself recently to use dies, as I tend to use my trimmer and punches rather than dies.
I think the lack of die use is due to having to move items around to access my die cutter (i have a few) however the Mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine is super cute and so easy to run some quick shapes through. I tend to cut the card in to 8cm wide strips to fit through my Mini machine (which I call dinky). The catalogue shows which dies will go through the machine. I have found apart from the big card sized dies most are narrower than the 8cm.

Tips and Tricks
Cut down your card so you make fewer passes through the machine
Use your embossing buddy/ anti-static powder to ensure random powder does not go everywhere
ensure your stamp is clean and well inked with embossing ink
Blow or tap the embossing powder will remove the excess powder
Heat your heat tool off the paper to avoid warping
Use a punch to help achieve a straight line
Add glue to the dimensionals/ foam pads to allow manoeuvrability if placed incorrectly
My original card uses the Black Stampin’ Write marker to colour in the dots. Which do you prefer, the black dots or the white dots?
