CASEing a CASEd card- Words of Cheer

Just Jade, Brushed Metallic Foil and Merry Merlot wink of stellar using the Christmas Cheer Dies

In my last blog I explained that I had Gremlins, they seem to be following me around. However I have managed to play in my craft room without too many items going wrong.

Todays card is actually a CASE of a CASEd card. The inspiration for this card is here from Stamps-n-Lingers. Amusingly it is a card which was CASEd from the same card that I CASEd from the Catalogue. I absolutely loved the card and the colours which they used which I adapted to be used in my card. I of course, altered the card and used some cards I made earlier last week as the other source of inspiration. My original cards used Real Red and Old Olive with basic white and Kraft card. I changed up the design as I thought I had created too many Christmas Cards in traditional colours. I loved the combination of Soft Succulent, Just Jade and Soft Suede, but I wanted to see the gorgeous stamps as well and therefore decided to use craft card and crumb cake ink. I coloured the Berries in with Merry Merlot Wink of Stellar to make them glittery.

Card Sizes

Original

Coloured card - 6” x 12” scored at 6”

Basic White (x2) - 5 3/4 ”

Card on Video

kraft Card Base - 5 6/8 x 5 6/8 inches

Layer 1 and inside layer - 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches

Layer 2 - 5 1/4 x 5 1/4

The odd sizes for the second card is due to the card not being 6x6 but smaller to fit in the envelope.

I stamped the Kraft layer with Crumb Cake ink using the Words of Cheer Stamps.

I added the soft succulent to the card base, I added the kraft layer using foam pads and then add the Just Jade Cheer die cut.

I love the original cards, especially the berries one the Real Red card (I need to create a video on Berry decoration options) but I prefer the card I made on the video. Which do you prefer?

CASEing the Catalogue - Words of Cheer

In my last video I showed what I did after I had prepped my stamps and dies and where I looked for inspiration. Today I have CASEd (Copied and Selectively Edited, but it can also stand for Copy and Share Everything) a card from the July to December catalogue. I loved this card when I saw it and it was definitely one of the reasons that I fell in love with the bundle (also as I love the happy die as you can tell from the number of videos I have made with it recently). I used most of the items from the original card, however I did not have the corkboard or the felt. I think that the vellum is a nice touch. I also didn’t like the repeated sentiment stamping, so I edited the card to have holly leaves in the background. The cards I created on video used Silver foil as my original used the glimmer paper from Sale-a-Bration.

Tips and tricks

  • I used Vellum and card instead of felt

  • use detailed glue to add the die cuts [I also used Crafters Companion - Extra Strong Glue Tape Pen (Dots)]

  • I stamped in pool party, however you could also use Versa mark ink to achieve the same effect

  • I cut out the flowers in Vellum and Silver card and re-added the centre of the card in Silver

  • I added glue to the cheer die cut, adding glue to the dots/berry’s did not work

  • Using the dots from the dies is easier with a Jewel picker/ take your pick tool

The video below shows how to make this card.

I hope that this helps inspire you to CASE your own card. What card from the catalogue would you like me to CASE next?
