Gold Flake Fun Fold

I wish I had extra hours in the day, and also that I could borrow spoons to be able to play in my craft room. I had intended to share some cards that I had created using the Words of Cheer stamps. I have created some things but they are not finished items. I tend to get addicted to making things without really thinking about finishing them (finishing cards is so overrated)

One of the items I found used gorgeous Mega Flakes by Indigo Blu. Stampin’ Up! do sell flakes but I have misplaced them somewhere in my craft room. I love using the flitter glu and Scoochy. to tidy up the flakes, I did resist the urge to use Manchester Tart. Although I have used Mega Flakes you could use embossing powders, Perfect Pearl or Mica Powders. It uses the same technique as my last card but using card instead of DSP.

I am slightly addicted to this fun fold and also the Words of Cheer Stamp set. Which do you prefer, the snowflakes and bling or gold flakes on card?

Words of Cheer- Bookbinding fold

Over the last few weeks I have seen so many gorgeous cards with a different fold, rather than being opened at the side their was an extra fold making the opening area smaller. I was curious how to make it. A few days ago I watched an amazing video which showed a gorgeous exploding bookbinding fold. Todays card was inspired by the video by by Stamp by Stamp Creation

As you can tell from my previous cards, I am not really a matting and layering girl, so I altered the design to suit my creating style. I decided that heat embossing was a perfect way to show off the fold and the ribbon.

Tips and Tricks

  • Fold and burnish the cards the second fold is burnished in the opposite direction to the first fold (the fold for a normal card)

  • Heat emboss before adding the ribbon and also sealing the first part of the card, this prevents the heat from effecting the components.

  • Use a embossing buddy before stamping in Versamark as it prevents powder being added in the areas you don’t want

  • If there is excess powder, tap the card, below it gently or remove with a brush

  • Use a strong glue to seal the fold, I used a permeant tape runner, you could use Seal+, red liner tape or the ultra sticky tape

  • seal the fold with your bone folder to ensure that is well stuck

For the Highland Heather example I coloured in the flowers with a silver Metallic Marker by Hobbyworld from B&M bargains.

I love the silver embossing on the Highland Heather and think that the ribbon adds to the charm of the card. But I like the Just Jade too, what’s your favourite?
